In 1996, the Labour Court recommended improved terms for workers affected by Ilp Protective Packaging Limited’s move from Bray to Leixlip. The recommendation was signed on 6 December 1996. It recommended increasing the compensation payment in the Industrial Relations Officer’s proposal to £1,000 and raising the redundancy package to three weeks’ pay per year of service. The Court recommended that the revised proposals be accepted. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought higher relocation support and terms for workers unable to transfer; the company said its earlier proposals adequately compensated workers and that the move would support future growth.
