The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Lidl Ireland GmbH to pay warehouse operative Lukasz Swiercz €28,000 after finding disability discrimination and a failure to provide reasonable accommodation. The decision was dated 9 April 2026.
Swiercz alleged that Lidl discriminated against him in his working conditions and failed to accommodate his disability; Lidl denied the allegations. The adjudication officer found Lidl had not comprehensively assessed possible adjustments to his duties and adopted a broad refusal of lighter duties for warehouse operatives. The officer also found an unexplained four-to-six-month delay in arranging an occupational-health appointment and that Lidl had not shown accommodation would impose a disproportionate burden.
