The Labour Court recommended a revised pay and incentive scheme for 12 Brooks Thomas Limited sales representatives in Dublin, Cork and Sligo. Its recommendation in the dispute with the Sales Marketing And Administrative Union Of Ireland was signed on 10 June 1995. The proposed scheme included a basic salary of £16,000, commission of 0.75% on sales above £15 million, and cash-collection commission ranging from 0.2% to 0.5%, depending on the collection period. The Court said collection commission could work only where employees could influence early payment of outstanding accounts, and recommended that the company and union make arrangements to support that.
