Lyu Lu’s unfair dismissal appeal fails over late filing

The Labour Court dismissed Lyu Lu’s appeal against Dawn Meats Ireland Unlimited after finding her unfair dismissal complaint was filed outside the statutory time limit. The decision was signed on 13 July 2026. Lu said her solicitor advised her to complete the company’s internal appeal process before making a statutory complaint. The Court found that waiting for an internal process did not provide reasonable cause to extend the deadline. It upheld the earlier decision without deciding whether the dismissal was fair.
