The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Marie Mccabe €813.60 after finding that her employer failed to provide a written statement of employment terms. Her unfair-dismissal, minimum-notice and wages complaints were not well founded. The decision was dated 30 March 2023. Mccabe worked part time as a Post Office Administrator at Sprucefield Limited Supervalu Bailieborough. She said she was removed from the post office, was not given minimum notice or written terms, and had not been paid for her final two weeks. The employer said it offered her a supermarket cashier role after concerns about her performance, which she refused. The WRC found that Mccabe’s employment ended when she refused the cashier role, so she was not unfairly dismissed and was not entitled to notice payment. It also found that payments of €502.85 and €1,100 compensated her for any wage underpayments. For the missing written terms, it awarded four weeks’ remuneration, or €813.60.
