WRC rejects Starbucks manager’s constructive dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission found Ciara Butler was not unfairly dismissed after she resigned from her store manager role at Starbucks Ireland. The decision was dated 20 October 2023. Butler said the handling of her grievance and her treatment left her with no alternative but to resign. The company said it had dealt with the grievance and that she had not pursued further internal procedures. The adjudication officer found she had not substantially used the available grievance procedure or shown that resignation was her only option.
