The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Affidea Diagnostics Ireland Limited to pay (Mrs) Mehr un Nisa €7,000 after finding that the clinic discriminated against her on racial grounds. The decision was dated 18 August 2026.
The Equal Status complaint concerned a clinic visit in which the WRC found that staff subjected her identity details to extraordinary verification and unreasonably refused her daughter entry to assist her in the changing area. Affidea denied discrimination and said it followed patient identification and safety procedures.
The WRC rejected allegations that staff removed her headscarf or pushed her, and did not uphold the religious discrimination allegation. It also directed Affidea to review its policies and provide staff with diversity and inclusion training.
