Labour Court recommends talks on overtime and holiday pay at Irish Driver Harris

The Labour Court recommended that Irish Driver Harris Co. Ltd. and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree the shift arrangements required before matching workers’ pay to the system implemented. The recommendation was signed on 23 April 1996. The union said rostered overtime had become an integral part of workers’ take-home pay and should count towards holiday pay. The company said it had agreed to the shift pattern on the understanding that it would not increase costs, and argued that the Holiday (Employees) Act excluded overtime from annual leave pay. The dispute concerned about 26 workers in the extrusion and standing area.
