In 1992, the Labour Court recommended against conceding claims by O'Reilly Bros Limited (Concrete) Products workers for a 3% pay increase, a contributory pension scheme and non-contributory sick pay. The recommendation was signed on 27 November. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that local rates and workers' needs supported the claims. The company said its turnover had fallen and it could not absorb additional costs. The Court accepted that position, while allowing the union to resubmit the claims if the company's finances improved.
