The Labour Court recommended that Ward International Limited recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and negotiate with it on behalf of its members. The dispute concerned representation for staff employees at the Athlone company. The company opposed recognition, citing possible divisions among staff, confidentiality concerns and its preference for direct dealings. The Court found the company’s concerns about the union’s partial organisation of staff were not well founded. The recommendation was signed on 14 April 1992.
