The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ordered David Feeney to pay electrical apprentice Liam Young €746 gross for five days of accrued annual leave left unpaid when his employment ended. It also ordered Feeney to pay €1,492 compensation for breach of Young’s statutory rights. The decision was dated 3 July 2025 and was made by adjudication officer Elizabeth Spelman. Young told the WRC that he was also owed €168 for his final week of lodgings. Feeney did not attend the hearing. The WRC rejected Young’s payment-of-wages complaint, finding that the weekly lodgings payment covered accommodation, travel and food, which the Act does not treat as wages. The WRC upheld his separate complaint about unpaid annual leave.
