In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's claim for pay parity with Cork for Tedcastle McCormack Limited workers. The recommendation was signed on 9 July 1987. The union sought a pay increase for about six workers in the 26th wage round, arguing their work was as hard as Cork's despite lower rates and higher living costs. Tedcastle McCormack Limited offered a 6% increase for March to August 1987 and lump sums for the earlier six months, conditional on dropping the parity claim. The Court found no basis for Cork parity and recommended that the company's offer be accepted.
