The Workplace Relations Commission disallowed Denis McCallig’s appeal for a statutory redundancy payment after finding there had been no dismissal. Adjudication Officer Marie Flynn dated the decision 28 November 2024. McCallig claimed he was entitled to redundancy after the Killybegs ice plant stopped producing ice, saying he continued caretaking at the site. Bord Iascaigh Mhara (Bim) said he remained employed in caretaking and relief duties and later chose to retire. The WRC found he resigned in December 2023 and that no redundancy had occurred.
