WRC rejects Mary Byrne’s claim for childcare manager pay rate

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Mary Byrne’s claim for the €16.50 hourly manager rate under the Early Learning and Childcare Sector Employment Regulation Order. Adjudication Officer Marie Flynn dated the decision 28 November 2024. Byrne said she was the creche’s day-to-day manager, while Finglas Childcare CLG maintained she was a senior worker or room leader and was paid for additional duties. The WRC found no compelling evidence she was employed as a manager, noting that she did not make policy decisions or report directly to the Board.
