WRC finds no discrimination in Tesco summer-job complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission found that John Keenan was not discriminated against by Tesco Ireland Ltd when he received no response after leaving a CV for a summer job at its Ennis store. The decision was dated 23 September 2026. Keenan, a member of the Traveller community, said the lack of response was because of his identity. Tesco said it did not contact every person who left a CV at a store and generally recruited through an online portal. The adjudicator found Keenan had not shown he was treated differently from other people who left CVs at the customer service desk, so the complaint was not well founded. No monetary award was recorded.
