The WRC rejected a manager’s claims over changes to his role and hours after a store restructure, finding no breach of employment information rules or discrimination on family status grounds. The decision was dated 20 March 2024.
The manager, who had more than 22 years’ service, said the changes disrupted family life and increased childcare costs. The store said managers’ contracts allowed flexible hours and that the changes formed part of a wider restructuring.
The WRC found that the store had given notice of the new roster and that its grievance process was reasonable. It did not recommend in the manager’s favour under the Industrial Relations Act.
