The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Joseph Dempsey’s claim for a statutory redundancy payment, finding that he resigned because of medical incapacity and that no redundancy situation existed. The decision, dated 20 March 2024, also found his 14 other complaints not well-founded. Most were outside the time limit, and their merits were not decided. Dempsey said he had been kept on lay-off and was entitled to redundancy pay. Dermot Conroy Limited said he resigned because his illness left no realistic prospect of returning to work. The WRC found that all 16 complaints failed.
