The Labour Court dismissed Mr Conor Williamson’s redundancy appeal, finding his complaint was not well founded and upholding the Adjudication Officer’s decision. The determination was dated 21 December 2022. Williamson worked as a licensed dog warden for David Stone T/A Ashton Dog Pound and Warden Services until 30 June 2021. Ashton provided dog warden services to Dublin City Council, which brought the service in-house. The Council took possession of five dogs, records and related documents but did not take on Ashton’s staff. Williamson argued that his employment transferred to the Council by law on 1 July 2021. The Court had found in related cases that no transfer of undertakings took place between Ashton and the Council. It therefore found the redundancy complaint was not well founded and the appeal failed.
