The Labour Court rejected Conor Williamson’s unfair dismissal appeal under the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977, finding his claim was not well-founded. The determination was dated 21 December 2022.

Williamson worked as a licensed dog warden for David Stone T/A Ashton Dog Pound and Warden Services, providing services under contract to Dublin City Council. The council brought the service in-house and did not take on Ashton’s staff.

The appeal concerned whether Williamson’s employment transferred to the council. The Labour Court found that no transfer of undertakings took place, rejected the claim and upheld the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
