The Labour Court affirmed the decision that bus driver Peter Gleeson was not entitled to notice pay after his summary dismissal for gross misconduct. The decision was signed on 16 September 2026. Gleeson sought two weeks’ notice pay, saying his service entitled him to it. Go-Ahead Ireland Bus Limited said he was dismissed for using a mobile phone while in control of a company vehicle and that no notice was payable for summary dismissal for gross misconduct. The Court relied on the misconduct exception and the company’s policies, and found he had no entitlement to notice under the Act.
