The WRC recommended against a warehouse worker’s claim to restore his previous Monday-to-Friday working pattern. Adjudication Officer Thomas O’Driscoll dated the recommendation 16 September 2026. The worker said he had mainly worked weekdays for more than seven years and that regular weekend shifts broke with an established arrangement. The retail company said his contract did not guarantee weekday-only work and that restructuring required Deputy Section Heads to share weekend cover. O’Driscoll found that recurring weekend shifts between 2019 and 2024 undermined a claim to an absolute weekday-only entitlement. He accepted the changed operational needs, found no evidence the worker was singled out, and was satisfied the grievance and appeal processes were fair. He recommended that both sides accept the internal processes’ outcome and continue discussing future rosters.
