Labour Court varies recommendation in Medite Europe warning dispute

The Labour Court varied an Adjudication Officer’s recommendation in an appeal by a worker at Medite Europe DAC over a verbal warning. Its decision was signed on 15 November 2018. The worker, a Sander Operator represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said he was dealing with a sander blockage when quality checks missed imperfections on MDF panels. Medite Europe DAC said it considered his record and gave him a verbal warning rather than the written warning normally used for the incident. The Court found the issue moot because the warning had expired and been removed from the worker’s file in October 2017.
