The Labour Court recommended that Roscommon County Council supply general operatives with the same type of anoraks it had provided previously, with high-visibility vests worn over them where appropriate. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the council was not complying with a 1998 agreement to provide an anorak every two years. The council said high-visibility clothing was needed for safety and met the relevant standards. The Court noted there was no standard approach among local authorities to supplying anoraks. The recommendation was signed on 23 March 2004.
