The Labour Court did not uphold the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union’s claims for additional staffing and grading changes in Roscommon County Council library services. The recommendation was signed on 17 April 2008. The union sought 27 posts and upgrades to several positions. The council proposed increasing staffing from 19 to 25, plus an Assistant Librarian post for Castlerea Prison. The Court considered management’s staffing proposal reasonable and did not recommend further increases. The Court recommended that proposed extended opening hours be put to staff only on the basis that part-time library staff consented to the change; otherwise, existing hours would remain.
