The Labour Court recommended that Ionics Ireland pay a worker £500 after finding he was treated unfairly when the company dismissed him without following fair disciplinary procedures. The recommendation was signed on 16 June 2000. The worker said he had left a hotel night-porter job to join Ionics Ireland and was not given enough time to reach peak performance. The company said he refused to work more than 39 hours a week, failed to rearrange missed customer installations and was difficult to work with. The Court said the worker had not received adequate notice or details of the complaints against him, or a warning that his job was at risk. It recommended £500 in full and final settlement of the claim.
