In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that a worker at St Anne’s Service in Roscrea accept a sleepover roster, while discussing the conditions for its introduction with the employer. The recommendation was signed on 24 November 1997. The worker, who had moved from catering assistant to care staff, said sleepover duty was not in her contract. St Anne’s Service argued that sleepovers were an essential part of its service and had been part of community-house work. The Court found the employer’s position that the worker should do her share of sleepovers well founded, but said the change required discussion with her.
