The Labour Court did not recommend granting the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for three Christmas privilege days for Limerick Corporation outdoor staff, in a recommendation dated 24 April 1997. The union argued that outdoor staff should receive the days granted to indoor staff. Limerick Corporation said outdoor staff had separate employment conditions and other leave and concessions, and that granting the claim would cost about £52,000 a year for approximately 320 staff.
