The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc pay a worker two years’ loss of an acting-up overtime payment in full and final settlement of a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, in a recommendation dated 24 April 1997. The union said the worker’s additional duties continued and that it understood the allowance would be retained after a grading review. Teagasc said overtime had been reduced across the organisation, was not an entitlement and that the union had accepted the elimination of allowances. The Court found the union understood the worker’s seven-year allowance would continue, while Teagasc understood the overtime arrangement would end.
