In 1995, the Labour Court recommended a six-week sick pay scheme for seven production workers at Albatros Fertilizers Limited: £40 a week for the first three weeks and £20 a week for the next three. It also recommended reviewing the scheme after 12 months of operation. The recommendation was signed on 3 May 1995. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought up to six weeks of full basic pay and shift premium, while the company had offered £40 a week for the first two weeks and £15 for the next four. The union argued the workers deserved a scheme comparable to that of other company employees.
