In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that the University Of Limerick not concede eight regrading claims made by Manufacturing Science Finance on behalf of former Thomond College staff. The claims concerned work performed at Thomond College, not the claimants' later university positions. The Court cited mismatches with technician duties, a qualification shortfall and grading or promotion arrangements among its reasons for recommending against the claims. It was satisfied the pending merger had not disadvantaged the claimants during the later period of their Thomond College employment. The recommendation was signed on 12 November 1993.
