In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Saehan Media Ireland Limited recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for employees who were union members. The recommendation was dated 6 May 1993. The union sought recognition after employees asked for its help with workplace conditions. The company made video cassette tapes and employed about 450 people at its Sligo plant. The Court said recognition would support cooperation between the company and union.
