In 1992, the Labour Court recommended against conceding a retrospective travel-time claim by Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for building workers employed by Udaras Na Gaeltachta. The dispute arose over travel to a construction site at Kilkiernan, Connemara. The union said the industry agreement’s travel allowance should apply; the employer argued the relevant Galway provision covered urban areas and suitable transport was sometimes provided. The Labour Court signed its recommendation on 16 November 1992.
