The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Waterford Co-Operative Society Limited’s Dungarvan Plant immediately undertake management’s revised duties and hours. The recommendation was signed on 20 June 1988. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union said the changes would cause a severe loss of earnings. The Society said it could not establish a loss before the new hours were worked. If earnings losses were established over the 12 months from 1 July 1988 and the parties could not agree compensation, the Court said they could refer the matter back for a recommendation.
