Labour Court declines van drivers' productivity compensation claim

In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers Union's claim for compensation for seven Cahill May Roberts Limited van drivers. The recommendation was signed on 30 May 1988. The union said changes to delivery runs increased the drivers' workload without extra pay for the added productivity. Cahill May Roberts Limited argued the revised routes responded to difficult trading conditions and did not justify a productivity increase. The Court found the organisational changes insufficient to support the claim.
