In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's claim for payment to Limerick Corporation workers who took part in unofficial stoppages. The recommendation was signed on 6 April 1987. The union sought one day's pay for 230 workers and one and a half days' pay for 40 workers. It said workers believed a contractor's road restoration work breached an agreement and criticised management's response to a request for a meeting. Limerick Corporation said the stoppage was without notice and breached dispute procedures. The Court noted workers' unease about job security but found their action breached dispute procedures. It did not recommend conceding the claim.
