In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union accept Irish Filter Supply Limited's offer of a 6% pay rise for 12 months from 1 June 1986. The recommendation was signed on 16 February 1987. The union had sought a 9% increase and an extra day's annual leave for 29 workers. Irish Filter Supply Limited had offered a 5% increase and the extra leave day, citing trading difficulties and losses. The Court recommended raising the company's pay offer to 6%; it made no separate recommendation on the leave claim.
