WRC rejects complaint over exclusion from voluntary redundancy scheme

The Workplace Relations Commission found Shaun Cunniffe’s complaint against Connaught Electronics Ltd t/a Valeo Vision Systems not well-founded. The decision, dated 12 September 2025, concerned his exclusion from consideration for a voluntary redundancy scheme. Cunniffe said night-shift employees were excluded despite assurances of fair consideration. The company said night shift staffing could not be reduced and that redundancies were applied to other shifts. The adjudication officer found the complaint, referred under the Terms of Employment (Information) Act, was outside the law’s scope because it did not concern a failure to provide or update written employment terms.
