WRC rejects Shaws & Sons worker’s unfair dismissal complaint after redundancy

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Inguna Bluzmane’s unfair dismissal complaint against Shaws & Sons Limited, finding her selection for redundancy fair and reasonable. The decision was dated 27 February 2026. Bluzmane said she could have transferred to another branch in Dungarvan and had experience across departments. The company said the closure of its electrical store led to redundancies and that it used a selection matrix after consulting the trade union. The WRC found her position was not singled out; the complaint was not well founded and no compensation was ordered.
