The Workplace Relations Commission did not recommend concession of a worker’s dispute over his dismissal during probation. The recommendation was dated 26 February 2026. The worker said he had agreed to work on one project but was assigned two, and that his dismissal followed his request for clarification. The employer said the role covered two co-located projects and that it dismissed him after concerns about his suitability arose. The WRC found the worker’s email was a request for clarification, not a grievance, and found no evidence that his dismissal was retaliatory. It also found the employer had discussed role expectations with him during probation and acted fairly. The employer paid one month’s wages in lieu of notice.
