The Workplace Relations Commission disallowed Krzysztof Wisniewski’s appeal against Fohntechgroup’s decision not to pay him redundancy, in a decision dated 10 May 2024. Wisniewski said he had worked at a Dublin client site and that travelling to a job in Limerick was unreasonable without accommodation. The company said its Dublin project had ended and offered the Limerick posting on the same terms, including an accommodation payment. The adjudication officer found the offer reasonable, noting Wisniewski had received €161 a week towards accommodation while posted to Dublin. The officer said the employer had no contractual duty to find accommodation and that Wisniewski had unreasonably refused the alternative work.
