The Workplace Relations Commission found Rachel O'Reilly was unfairly dismissed by Forenaghts Stud Farm Limited and awarded her €5,500. The decision, dated 25 April 2025, also awarded her €100 for a breach of written employment terms.
O'Reilly worked part time as a stud hand. The company said it dismissed her over her conduct toward the stud manager after an altercation concerning the care of two horses. The adjudicator found the dismissal procedures seriously flawed, including the lack of a separate disciplinary process, and said the conduct did not warrant dismissal.
The WRC also found the second written-terms complaint was withdrawn. Three minimum-notice complaints and two working-time complaints were not well founded.
