The Workplace Relations Commission found three of Bryn Samuel’s four complaints against Riverside Spa Limited well founded and awarded him €3,692, €150 and €553.80. Adjudication officer Marguerite Buckley dated the decision 2 May 2024. The three awards covered missing written employment terms, a deduction for a work tablet and unpaid annual leave. Samuel said he received no written terms, €150 was deducted for a missing tablet, he was owed a month’s notice pay and three days’ annual leave remained unpaid. The company accepted it had not provided written terms and had deducted €150, but said Samuel agreed to the deduction. It disputed an agreement to a month’s notice and said his annual leave had been paid. The adjudicator found the tablet deduction was not fair and reasonable and accepted that three days’ leave remained due. She rejected the month’s notice claim because no such agreement was established. The written-terms complaint was also upheld, with compensation of four weeks’ gross pay.
