WRC rejects Octavian Nacu’s redundancy payment appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission did not allow Octavian Nacu’s appeal for a redundancy payment from Northway Personnel Ltd. The decision was dated 14 March 2024. Nacu said he received no redundancy payment after being placed on temporary lay-off at the company’s Clonee site. The company argued he had refused alternative work and had not given written notice of his intention to claim redundancy. The adjudication officer said the company’s initial offer lacked detail, but found Nacu had not followed the required process: he sent an RP77 claim form instead of an RP9 form or written notice of his intention to claim.
