WRC finds Frank Woods’ employment complaint was out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission found Frank Woods’ complaint against Cmetb was referred outside the statutory time limit, so the merits were not decided. Woods said he provided teaching services on Cmetb’s Traineeship Programme until May 2019. He lodged his complaint under the Terms of Employment (Information) Act in February 2022, about 26 months later. Cmetb argued that the complaint was out of time and that Woods was not its employee. The WRC said the complaint was presented beyond the Act’s 12-month limit and that it was precluded from considering it. The decision was dated 14 February 2024.
