The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found five complaints by Kian Gregory against Gemstroke Limited t/a The Parkview Hotel not well founded after he missed a rescheduled hearing. The decision was dated 17 January 2024. Gregory, who worked as a chef de partie, had complained about written employment terms, Sunday work, wages and public holiday entitlements. The hearing had been adjourned to allow the hotel’s general manager to attend. Gregory did not attend the rescheduled hearing on 4 December 2023, and the respondent did not present evidence. The officer said Gregory’s absence prevented an inquiry into the complaints and meant the respondent could not test his disputed evidence. The merits were not decided.
