The Workplace Relations Commission awarded driver Ruslan Rybak €2,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed, and awarded him €250 on each of four working-time complaints. The decision was dated 2 April 2025. Rybak said he was dismissed without warning or procedure after a dispute. Noel Hughes & N J Hughes Haulage & Plant Hire disputed that account, saying he walked off the yard. The adjudicator found a dismissal had occurred but reduced the unfair-dismissal redress by 50%, citing Rybak’s contribution. The WRC rejected his complaints about written terms, statutory records and Sunday premium. The four working-time complaints were upheld after the adjudicator found the parties’ records ambiguous.
