The Labour Court recommended that An Garda Síochána should not concede a claim by 171 Gardaí for additional travel and subsistence payments after temporary transfers to front-line duties during the Covid-19 response. The recommendation was dated 1 April 2025. The Garda Representative Association and the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors sought daily payments, mileage and recognition of extra travel time as working time, as well as compensation for a lost pensionable allowance. An Garda Síochána said the members had been paid under existing schemes. The Court noted those payments and said it could not recommend concession of the claim.
