The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) awarded a worker €93,362 for unfair dismissal, along with €3,712 for missing written employment terms and €2,000 for working-time breaches. WRC Adjudication Officer Patricia Owens dated the decision 2 April 2025. The employer did not attend the hearing or respond to the complaints.

The worker said she was dismissed after confronting the employer’s owner, her former partner, about a message on his phone. She said she was left without income and relied on social welfare and support from Women’s Aid and St Vincent de Paul. The employer provided recycling services.

The WRC based the dismissal compensation on €63,362 in lost earnings and €30,000 for loss of use of a company car. It also ordered €3,712 compensation for the written-terms breach. For the working-time breaches, it awarded €2,000, taking account of the worker’s home-based work and two-week summer holiday.
