The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Kenneth Barret T/ A Meat Centre to pay Agnieszka Hodor €1,600 and provide compliant written terms of employment. The decision was dated 7 January 2022.
Hodor, who had worked as a butcher for the sole trader since 2006, told the WRC she had never received written terms. The respondent had died, and no one appeared at the hearing. The WRC found a continuing breach and ordered compensation equal to four weeks’ pay.
A separate wages complaint concerned deductions dating to 2016. The WRC found it was outside the time limit and not well founded; the merits were not decided. A further wages complaint was a duplicate.
