In 1999, the Labour Court rejected Avonmore Waterford Group’s appeal and upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation for a redeployment payment to a worker. The Court found that the union had secured the company’s commitment to make the payment. The worker moved from the Combined Heat and Power Plant to the Milk Intake Section as the company closed its Dungarvan plant.

Avonmore Waterford Group argued that the worker volunteered for the move and had previously received a redeployment allowance of about £2,000. Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union said management had asked him to stay after the closure and had agreed a £2,750 payment. The Labour Court heard the appeal in Waterford on 23 September and signed its decision on 18 October 1999.
